About

A Bit About Me

I'm a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who earned his Masters Degree in Social Work  - Mental Health from the University of Illinois at Chicago.  My interest in post-graduate study led me to complete an extensive Adult Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy training program at the Chicago Institute for Psychoanalysis.  I have experience working with adults, adolescents, couples, and families in a variety of treatment settings, including inpatient treatment facilities, community mental health centers, and private practice.  I approach my work from a dynamic perspective (with a particular focus on the impact of attachment relationships) while integrating other evidence-based interventions including: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT).  During my graduate study, I also earned the IBHE Certificate in Evidenced-Based Mental Health with Children & Adolescents.

What to Expect

The thought of engaging in psychotherapy can be intimidating and oftentimes the decision to begin therapy occurs when a person is feeling incredibly vulnerable.  Put simply, I don't take this fact lightly. The psychotherapeutic process is difficult to fully articulate. It's both messy and complex, much like the lives we lead.  It's also incredibly healing.  At the end of the day, I strive to embody a reverence for this process because I've had the extraordinary privilege of witnessing it change lives.

"Ring the bells that still can ring
Forget your perfect offering
There is a crack in everything
That's how the light gets in."
- Leonard Cohen

Fees & Insurance

Therapy Fees
  • Individual Psychotherapy sessions are $150 per 55 minute session.

  • Couples & Family Counseling sessions are $165 per 55 minute session.

  • Cash, check or credit card accepted.

Insurance

I'm an in-network provider with BlueCross/BlueShield & Blue Choice PPO.

If you have another insurance provider, you can utilize out-of-network benefits. In this case, I will provide you with a receipt for services to submit to your provider for reimbursement. Please check with your particular insurance provider for the details of your in-network & out-of-network coverage. When contacting your provider be sure to ask the following questions:

  • Do you have mental/behavioral health benefits?

  • What is your deductible?

  • What is your co-payment?

  • Is there a limit on the counseling sessions your insurance allows?

  • Are you required to pre-authorize services?

If you have any questions around fees/insurance coverage, please feel free to ask and I'll help you through the process.

I believe that everyone should have access to mental health care regardless of their ability to pay. For that reason, reduced fee sessions are available for those who are experiencing financial hardship and are unable to afford counseling services elsewhere. In these cases, fees are determined on an individual basis.

Cancellations & Missed Appointments

Please provide 24 hours notice when cancelling an appointment. There is a flat fee of $100 for late cancellations and missed appointments.
